Frequently Asked Questions

We hope these FAQs have provided helpful information. If you have any further inquiries or need clarification, don't hesitate to reach out to us at yelapayogaretreat@gmail.com We look forward to welcoming you to our transformative yoga retreat in Yelapa, Mexico!

Is Yelapa a safe place to travel for a yoga retreat?

Absolutely! Yelapa is a secure place with a remarkably low incidence of theft or other criminal activities. As a small fishing village, everyone is familiar with one another and watches out for each other. The scorpions are the most dangerous creatures in the area, but they tend to avoid humans unless they feel threatened. Given the rugged terrain of the jungle, guests must take responsibility for their own safety by being aware of their surroundings. However, Reva & Michael are available to offer advice or assistance whenever needed.

What yoga classes are offered?

Reva has amassed several years of expertise and training in yoga. Her love and passion for the practice continue to deepen as she dives deeper into the wisdom and knowledge that yoga offers. Her dedication to sharing her passion for yoga is evident in her teachings. During the retreat, participants will have the opportunity to engage in a diverse range of yoga practices, including Vinyasa, Hatha, Yin, and restorative yoga, as well as meditation and breathwork. The yoga classes are uniquely tailored to cater to a wide range of needs and preferences. In addition, some classes are accompanied by live DJ music from michael be, which adds an extra dimension of excitement to the experience. Get ready to indulge in a well-rounded and fulfilling yoga journey with something special for everyone.

Are there any visa or vaccination requirements for visiting Mexico?

Visa Requirements:

For most travelers — including citizens of the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and most EU countries — no visa is required to enter Mexico for tourism or retreat purposes for stays of up to 180 days. All you’ll need is a valid passport and a completed entry form (often distributed on your flight or available upon arrival).

If you plan to stay longer than 180 days or engage in activities beyond tourism (such as work or study), you may need to apply for a visa in advance. We always recommend checking with the Mexican consulate or embassy in your home country for the most current entry requirements before you travel.

Vaccination & Health Recommendations:

There are no required vaccinations to enter Mexico as a tourist. However, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that all travelers be up to date on routine vaccinations such as measles, mumps, rubella (MMR), polio, tetanus, and the seasonal flu.

Because our retreat takes place in early May, when temperatures are warm and humidity is moderate, you may also want to consider Hepatitis A and Typhoid vaccines, which are commonly suggested for travelers to rural or coastal regions of Mexico.

Finally, it’s a good idea to check the CDC Travel Health Notices page a few weeks before departure for any updates or advisories.

Tip: We recommend bringing a small personal first-aid kit, insect repellent, and any prescription medications you may need, as pharmacies in Yelapa are limited.

Yes. WiFi is available in the main common areas. Signal in the rooms can vary, but many guests find the slower connection supports their “digital detox” experience.

Is there air conditioning at the yoga retreat center?

Some suites at Pura Vida have air conditioning, while others are open-air with ocean breezes. We find that April in Yelapa is perfect weather. Although A/C is nice, the ocean air is quite pleasant. Yes! While most meals are provided, you’re welcome to bring snacks. Pura Vida has filtered spring water, and there’s a juice bar on-site with smoothies and treats available for purchase.

Expect warm tropical weather: daytime highs in the mid-80s°F (29°C) and evenings in the mid-60s°F (18°C). Rain is rare in April, but the jungle can feel slightly humid.
